POMs 2014

Program now available
(Revised 5Nov2014)

You and your coworkers are cordially invited to attend the 42nd Ontario-Quebec Physical Organic Minisymposium, to be held on the campus of McMaster University on November 7-9, 2014. POMs is one of the premier North American physical organic chemistry meetings and emphasizes the active participation of graduate students and postdocs. We encourage the participation of all researchers who apply physical organic chemistry principles in all aspects of chemical sciences, including biological and materials chemistry.

The Program will follow a similar format to that of previous POMs, beginning with the Welcoming Mixer & Registration on Friday night, contributed oral presentations all day Saturday and Sunday morning, poster session Saturday afternoon, and conference dinner on Saturday evening. Lunch on Saturday will be provided, the cost of which is included in registration. The oral sessions will be held in the McMaster Health Science Centre, just inside the University Avenue entrance, while the poster session and banquet will be held in the University Club. The Friday night Welcoming Mixer and Registration will take place at the student pub on campus - The Phoenix - which is located in the Refectory Building.  Please download the campus map below for the specific location.  Those who are driving will find it most convenient to enter campus at the Sterling Street entrance, and park in Lot B.

Registration

REGISTRATION is $50 for students and postdoctoral fellows and $75 for faculty and industry representatives.  Registration includes a free beverage at the Friday evening mixer, and lunch on Saturday.  The cost of the Conference Banquet is $45 per person.  Anyone with specific dietary requirements should clearly indicate this on the Registration Form.

To register for the conference, please fill out the Registration Form and return it to poms@chemistry.mcmaster.ca by October 24, 2014.   We will be unable to accommodate Conference Banquet requests after this date.

Abstracts

Oral presentations will be 20 minutes in length, with 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions. Speakers will be expected to use their own computers; anyone who needs to make other arrangements, or has any other special requirements, is asked to contact us at poms@chemistry.mcmaster.ca. Posters must be no larger than 100 cm (height) x 90 cm (width).

To submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation, please complete the (2-page) POMS 2014 Abstract Form and send by email to poms@chemistry.mcmaster.ca.
